Malaysia Joins World’s Elite Rankings on Times Higher Education 2020 With Two New Entries

Times Higher Education has once again released its much-awaited World University Rankings 2020! The rank compares over 1,396 institutions from 92 countries worldwide — an increase from 1,258 institutions and 86 countries last year — generating as much as 251,000 data points.
The prestigious University of Oxford in the UK tops the list for the fourth consecutive year, surpassing reputable institutions such as California Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
From a local angle, two new Malaysian institutions have qualified to be placed on the list — Universiti Malaysia Perlis and Multimedia University, which is an increase towards Malaysia’s overall representation in the world rankings from 13 to 11. Furthermore, University of Malaya (UM) has climbed the ranks, moving up from the 351–400 group to the 301–350 group.
