Top Universities and Colleges in Malaysia According to MyQUEST/SETARA 2022
The SETARA/MyQUEST 2022 have been announced! See which universities and private colleges in Malaysia are among the best with this list.
Updated 26 Sep 2023

The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) has finally released the latest SETARA and MyQUEST ratings for 2022, which rate the quality and standards of higher education institutions in Malaysia.
Before we jump to the list, MOHE has made some changes to how universities and colleges are rated. Here’s a brief update on what to know.
What You Need To Know
Previously, both the SETARA and MyQUEST utilised a star-based rating system to evaluate the performance of universities and colleges in Malaysia with 6 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.
But as of 2022, MOHE has updated the rating system by introducing only 2 tiers — Berdaya Saing (Competitive) and Berdaya Maju (Viable) instead of the prior 6. The ministry also considers the new rating system as a fair and realistic approach after taking into account the COVID-19 pandemic that affected higher education institutions between the years 2019 and 2021. Therefore, it’s important to note that the MyQUEST and SETARA 2022 results are based on data collected in 2021 only.
- Berdaya Saing (Competitive): Excellent and have fulfilled all the criteria under the Malaysian Higher Education Institution Rating. These institutions are capable of competing at a higher level.
- Berdaya Maju (Viable): Good and have met the minimum criteria set. These institutions have the capability to progress and move towards a higher level.
Without further ado, let’s check out the best-ranked universities in Malaysia for SETARA/MyQUEST 2022.
