TAR UMT Graduate Achieves Highest ACCA Marks in Malaysia for June 2024 Exams

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck the world, Er Xin Ni’s architecture studies in Suzhou, China were disrupted. Unable to return to China, Xin Ni made a bold decision to pursue a different academic pathway in Malaysia. With the encouragement of her two elder sisters, she enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) programme at Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).
TAR UMT offered Xin Ni an incredible opportunity through its commerce programme, with the added advantage of earning ACCA, a globally recognised professional qualification. “I did not know much about accounting or taxation at that time, but my sisters’ convinced me of the reputable status of an ACCA professional qualification. The opportunity to graduate with both a Bachelor's Degree and a globally recognised professional qualification was too good an opportunity to be missed, so I grabbed it," shared Xin Ni.
TAR UMT is an ACCA Platinum Approved Learning Partner and the only institution in the world approved by ACCA to run the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals programme. With this special privilege, TAR UMT’s Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) students will be exempted from the 9 papers from ACCA Applied Knowledge and Applied Skills, and can attempt the ACCA Professional Level papers during their final year of study.
Despite the lack of experience in the accounting and taxation field, Xin Ni’s dedication and the strong support system from TAR UMT’s dedicated lecturers helped her achieve outstanding results. Xin Ni not only earned the highest mark in Malaysia for the ACCA Advanced Financial Management (AFM) paper but also the highest combined mark in Malaysia for the June 2024 ACCA examination.
Reflecting on her journey in TAR UMT, she stated, “It was truly an unexpected result and I still could not believe my eyes when I saw the announcement! When I first applied for the programme, I had doubts if I will be able to grasp the important fundamentals of accounting and taxation. Turns out, there was nothing to be worried about as in addition to just teaching, my lecturers took the extra step to ensure all of us understood the concepts. Not only they are willing to make extra effort to explain even the most difficult concepts easily, but sometimes they use creative methods such as simple metaphors to help me comprehend the topics easier.”
Now that Xin Ni has completed her studies, she revealed her goal of becoming an auditor and eventually obtaining full ACCA membership. "My immediate goal is to secure a job as an auditor. Eventually, I am looking to become a full-fledged ACCA member after obtaining enough working experience," she added.
