About RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC)

RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC), previously known as Penang Medical College (PMC), was first established in 1996. Established by two leading universities in Ireland – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD), it is Malaysia’s first accredited private medical institution.

RUMC currently offers a wide range of medical related programmes at the pre-university, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Listed as an Irish medical university, RUMC graduates are conferred with a medical degree from the National University of Ireland (NUI) which is recognised by the Irish Medical Council (IMC) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). This enables the graduates to practise in the USA, the UK, Ireland, Canada and others by the ECFMG and FAIMER.

RCSI and UCD are internationally recognised institutions. Both are top institutions in Irish medical education. UCD is also ranked at 173 in the world for the QS World University Rankings 2022. Both institutions are ranked in the 201 - 250 ranking for TIMES Higher World University Rankings 2023.
