The Ministry of Finance has recently announced that approximately 2 million eligible Malaysian youths and full time students are able to claim RM150 of e-wallet credit under the eBelia programme starting 1 June 2021.
As part of the Budget 2021 initiative, the eBelia programme was designed to give aid to youths and full-time students at local institutions of higher education as well as to promote cashless spending among them. The e-wallet credit will be offered through 4 service providers, namely BigPay, Boost, ShopeePay and Touch ‘n Go e-wallet.
What you need to know
The eBelia initiative is open to Malaysian citizens aged between 18 and 20, and full-time students enrolled in courses equivalent to a diploma or SKM4 and above at public and private registered institutions of higher learning.
You can redeem the RM150 credit once from one of the four eWallet providers and you will also get additional incentives in the form of cash back, voucher, points or coins from the respective platforms.
How to apply
The claim period for the eBelia credit is from June 1 to July 22 and the credit can be spent until 31 July 2021. Do update and verify your e-wallet accounts and if you don’t have any of these apps, make sure you download one before 1 June 2021.
