#1. Lost Your SPM Certificate? Here is What You Can Do
(a) Head to the Malaysian Examinations Syndicate (MES) in person
It is always best to head to the MES office located in Putrajaya in person if it’s convenient for you.
Not only you can get your questions answered on the spot, you can obtain the replacement copy almost immediately too!
If you’ve completed your SPM examination on or after 1994, then you should be able to receive your replacement copy within an hour. However, if you sat for SPM before 1994, you may need to wait at least 7 working days before you can receive your new copy as your information has not been digitised.
If you’re planning to go to the MES office in person, here’s what you need to do:
- Fill up a form applying for a replacement SPM certificate. You can obtain the form from MES office or download the form online from MES website
- Bring along your original identification card (IC) for verification purposes
- Pay RM30 per replacement copy
And voilà, it’s as simple as that.
But what if you cannot make it in person?
Rest assured, you can nominate someone to apply for a replacement copy on your behalf.
On top of the completed application form and cash (RM30 per replacement copy), your nominee will need to bring along a Proxy or Nomination Letter, which is signed by you and a verified copy of your IC.
(b) Apply through post
What if Putrajaya is too far away and it’s too inconvenient for you to make a trip there? No worries, as you can apply for replacement copies of your SPM certificate through postage as well!
Similarly, you will need to:
- Fill up a form applying for a replacement SPM certificate. The form is available at the MES office or downloadable online from the MES website
- Attach a verified copy of your IC for verification purposes
- Include the right amount payable to the Pengarah Peperiksaan (RM30 per replacement copy) in the form of a Bank Draft or Postal Order (personal cheque or cash will not be accepted)
