Thinking of pursuing ACCA? Here’s why Taylor’s College is a great choice.

For any graduate, choosing the right career means looking for a profession that is future-proof and can withstand any pandemic or economic downturn. As every business — large and small — requires the services of an accountant, this is one profession that will always be in demand.
If you’re thinking of pursuing accounting, there’s no doubt that taking the ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) professional qualification is a solid choice. And we’re here to tell you why you can’t go wrong with Taylor’s College, a gold-status Approved Learning Partner of ACCA.
Experienced and dedicated lecturers
ACCA student and Malaysia Top Foundation in Accountancy prize winner Lim Mei Ting chose to study ACCA at Taylor’s College as the institution offers more than just a certificate, highlighting her experienced and dedicated tutors for their exemplary teaching.
“My lecturers are very caring and friendly and they have always lent a helping hand when students encounter problems throughout the learning process, without hesitation,” said Lim. “They also provide simplified notes, which are very useful especially for revision purposes during the examination season!”
As the ACCA programme is not an easy course, Vaishnavi Vanisha Ganisen, Taylor’s College ACCA lecturer, shared that students are better positioned for success with the right guidance from academics.
“To the best of our abilities, we ensure our students obtain quality education through consistent delivery methods, internal tests that mimic the exam environment and standards, and coaching them on the right exam techniques,” said Vaishnavi, adding that she appreciates students who ask questions as she sees it as an opportunity for mentoring.
Learning virtually in the face of a pandemic
As the Covid-19 pandemic has forced many institutions to switch to online learning, lecturers like Vaishnavi have to go the extra mile in coaching their students virtually. Despite that, Lim felt empowered with her learning process thanks to the Taylor’s College virtual learning environment.
“The online learning technologies such as the TIMeS portal is very useful to me as an accounting student, as I am able to replay the entire lesson to catch up on notes given in the lectures,” said Lim, adding that Taylor’s digital library provides various resources for students to gain more information and better understanding.
Opportunities for international exposure
Due to the pandemic and lockdowns, Taylor’s College has taken the initiative to offer options to students that will open up more possibilities for their future. One of the ways is by providing opportunities for international exposure, especially for the ACCA programme.
Taylor’s College Professional Studies head Jason Lo Ka Soon shared that full-time ACCA students in Taylor’s College will have the option to further their studies abroad with the 2+1 pathway. This means students will study two years in Taylor’s and one year overseas at partner institutions — namely Metropolitan Manchester University and one of Ireland’s leading colleges, Dublin Business School.
Beyond the ACCA certificate
On top of their professional accounting certification, ACCA students will also be able to graduate with a DPOS Data Citizen Certificate powered by Apache. According to Lo, these additional data analysis skills will be valuable as companies look to harness big data into different areas such as customer traits, sales growth and more.
For working professionals who are looking to upskill themselves, Taylor’s College is also offering short courses next year for software and platforms such as Salesforce, Java Oracle, DBS and Microsoft Azure. Not only will they gain valuable skills needed in programming and sales, but they’ll also receive certifications from the software organisation itself upon completion.
