Engineering is the application of science and maths to create sustainable solutions for societal challenges.
The field of engineering is extremely broad, covering multiple fields from application of electronics (Electrical & Electronic Engineering) to building roads and buildings (Civil Engineering). Almost every product that we have in the 21st century is the result of clever and innovative engineering!
A Degree in Engineering will equip you with the necessary practical skills and technical knowledge in your chosen specialisation.
To pursue a Degree in Engineering, the typical entry requirements are:
- A-Level: Minimum 2Es including Maths and a relevant Science subject; or
- STPM: Minimum 2Cs including Maths and a relevant Science subject; or
- Australian Matriculation: Minimum of ATAR 65; or
- Foundation: Minimum CGPA of 2.0; or
- Relevant Diploma: Minimum CGPA of 2.0
You may also need to have a pass in English at SPM, O-Level or equivalent.
That said, the entry requirements may vary depending on the university, so be sure to do your research!
To pursue a Degree in Engineering, you need to have an SPM qualification or equivalent and a Pre-U qualification. You must also meet the minimum entry requirements of the university.
A Degree in Engineering is usually 4 years long.
Upon completing a Degree in Engineering, you will have several options:
- Enter the workforce immediately; or
- Work and pursue your studies for professional exams at the same time to be a Chartered Engineer; or
- Pursue postgraduate studies in the relevant fields
The standard path upon completing your Engineering Degree is to become an engineer.
