Taylor’s University has recently announced the launch of a new programme under its Business School. The Bachelor in Entrepreneurship (Team Entrepreneurship) (Honours), claimed as the first of its kind in Malaysia, is a 3 year degree programme which will begin its first intake in August 2020.

Its curriculum will focus on laying down a strong entrepreneurial foundation for its graduates. Students will get coaching and mentorship opportunities with industry professionals as well as access to seed funding and venture capitalists. On top of that, students can use Taylor’s Me.reka Makerspace and thesetup for project collaborations and product development.

The programme was established as an effort to prepare graduates to be flexible and critical entrepreneurs. According to Associate Professor Dr Goh See Kwong, running a business in this climate is all about “strategic thinking, decisiveness, strong management qualities and the drive to be agile in varied circumstances, like the COVID-19 has taught us.”

“Our end goal with Team Entrepreneurship,” continued Dr Goh, “is to ensure that when our students graduate, they are ready to take the leap as well-informed and visionary leaders while fully understanding the international, regional and local context of managing their businesses.”

The new programme was announced during Taylor’s E-Summit panel discussion on the “next normal” in the entrepreneurship space. It brought together fellow entrepreneurs Claire Sancelot (The Hive), Jessie Chong (Boozeat) and Chin Ren Yi (myBurgerLab) who all talked about the importance of having strong foundations to ensure the business’ survival.
