First City University College recently held its annual Diploma Graduate Showcase, which displayed spectacular design artwork and enviable portfolios of students from its Faculty of Design & Built Environment.
Going with this year’s theme of ‘repre-sent’, it is truly an impressive display of artistic imagination and authenticity with collections of artwork that symbolises each student’s assortment of creative skills, experiences, personalities, ambitions and talents.
The president of the student committee, Mandy Chan Wai Mun, was seen beaming with pride as she has toiled hard together with her peers to pull off this showcase.
"What is more important is that this journey we took together will forever be in our memories; because above all else, and despite all the challenges we faced, the most important part is the FUN we had together,” shared Mandy.
The 3-day exhibition was open to the public and was graced by the presence of First City UC’s executive management team with members of their Faculty of Design & Built Environment, representatives from the design industry scouting for talented graduates, external examiners to assess the students’ artworks and the students’ proud parents.
The showcase is also the first event to be held at the White Canvas Gallery in First City UC’s new Phase II building. Design students can now enjoy a host of improved facilities and state-of-the-art equipment and resources at this new premise.
While it was the Diploma graduates that stole the limelight at this event, a diploma isn’t the only Design qualification available at First City UC. Students with artistic and imaginative facility can further hone their potential with the Foundation in Art & Design programme leading to Degrees in Interior Architecture & Design, Graphic Design or Furniture & Product Design.
Best of all, these Degree programmes will be offered in collaboration with First City UC's newly established university partner, Manchester Metropolitan University from the UK.
Not only that, Design Degree graduates planning to further enhance and refine their design capabilities can also look into the Design faculty’s first postgraduate programme, Master in Design Management, which will be launched soon.
