It takes a lot to raise the next generation of leaders and Taylor’s is rising to the challenge.
In conjunction with the introduction of its new Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Taylor’s has unveiled the new Taylor’s Centre for Childhood Development and Innovation (CCDI).
The centre, equipped with a wide array of high-tech educational resources such as ActivPanel and observation cameras, is built to meet the demands of 21st century learners. It aims to act as a simulation classroom and provide a multifunctional space for research and innovation in areas of physical, cognitive, language, emotional and social contexts of children’s development.
“Taylor’s aims to empower the next frontier of childhood studies in the country with a comprehensive, nurturing and collaborative education ecosystem,” explains Professor Dr Pradeep Nair, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Chief Academic Officer of Taylor’s University. He hopes that the centre will become a platform for students to “gain an immersive education experience”.
Students pursuing a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) in Taylor’s College will be taught via work-based learning, which means students will have a sizeable amount of time spent learning at actual ECE settings. The simulated lessons at the CCDI will give them a chance to explore real-world experiential learning while exposing them to new learning environments for 21st century learners.
Taylor’s DECE students will also benefit from Taylor’s long-standing partnership with prominent industry leaders. “Students will have the opportunity to develop their confidence by participating in our Impact Labs and Multidisciplinary Learning Experience. Students will get to explore working with industry partners and other students of diverse backgrounds and discipline to solve real world problems,” added Professor Dr Pradeep.
Taylor’s launch of the CCDI was officiated by the Ministry of Education’s Deputy Director of Education Policy Planning and Research Division, Dr. Nor Saidatul Rajeah Zamzam Amin.
Congratulations to Taylor’s on their new centre for excellence. We can’t wait to see how this will drive growth in the field of early childhood education in Malaysia.
